The Holy Paladin mini-guide
In this Holy Paladin mini-guide we won’t describe every single step you need to take from scratch, which talents to choose or which gear to pick as it is intended for the players that understand basic class mechanics and have some game experience.
Spec PROs and CONs
In the previous patch Holy Paladins were shocking everyone with their overwhelming single-target damage, outpacing even the DPS specs while maintaining a great level of their healing capabilities. It was predictable that possessing such features would make Holy Paladins the most desired healer in the high keys, with the heavy reliance on cooldowns under unexpected critical situations being the only drawback.
Patch 9.1 nerfed the damage of Holy Paladins. Blizzard went through all main DPS abilities reducing their total damage output approximately by 15%. They, however, applied some boost on the Flash of Light to recoup the nerf and solve the only weak spot that we mentioned before. It is still very convenient and pleasant to play as Holy Paladin in the high keys as it’s the best healer in nowadays content. During the raids Holy Paladins are focusing on keeping tanks alive while AOE healing should be entrusted to Shamans.
The build we give below works well both in raids and keys.
- Bestow Faith (After the Crusader’s Might nerf this talent is more useful)
- Judgment of Light
- Any, that you like
- Unbreakable Spirit
- Divine Purpose
- Beacon of Virtue
Despite the nerf Venthyr remains the best choice for Holy Paladin. Join them and pick Theotar the Mad Duke if your main focus is Holy. But if you play on several specs then Kyrian, Soulbind: Forgelite Prime Mikanikos is a good alternative.
The best conduits for Holy Paladin:
- Potency: Focused Light, Hallowed Discernment (for Venthyr), Ringing Clarity (for Kyrian)
- Finesse: Echoing Blessings, Light’s Barding
- Endurance: Golden Path, Shielding Words, Divine Call
Shards of Domination
Get Unholy Shards for Chaos Bane bonus, other two shards are Frost Shards Tel and Kyr that provide a boost to your healing.
Choose your gear basing on the following priorities:
- Item level, Intellect
- Mastery and Crit
Picking up a legendary item
The Mad Paragon is the best choice for Mythic+ keys. It grants a significant boost to your damage and if you experience no problem with healing change your first talent to Light’s Hammer for better synergy. Radiant Embers is an interesting alternative but you’ll have to remain within Venthyr’s Ashen Hallow which is not always possible. If you are more into raiding content then Shock Barrier along with Kyrians is a solid choice.
Waiting for this patch was distressing. Players had not seen any progress in Shadowlands for more than 7 months – the real anti-record in World of Warcraft history. The euphoria everyone felt after the release was really short. So what exactly did it bring to us? New zone and two new factions The new Kothia…
In WoW Shadowlands 9.1 players are often mistaken in picking up the wrong Covenant. This ends up realizing that the damage output with a wrong Covenant is approx. 2,5% lower than with proper one. Such a difference in DPS is rather significant and produces a big impact upon your playstyle. To properly choose a Covenant…
