The Discipline Priest mini-guide
In this Discipline Priest mini-guide we won’t describe every single step you need to take from scratch, which talents to choose or which gear to pick as it is intended for the players that understand basic class mechanics and have some game experience.
Spec PROs and CONs
Discipline Priests have unique healing mechanics in their possession that works via inflicting damage to the enemy. This feature makes them totally different from all other healing specs. Discipline Priest has been capturing top lines in healer list, making Blizzard even to nerf this spec. But this occasion, however, doesn’t prevent him from being one of the three strongest healers in the 9.1 patch, only Shaman and Paladin being stronger than him.
Discipline Priest is a hard class that can’t be advised for a rookie. Even if your experience as a healer is rather good you will face difficulties playing as Discipline Priest due to his unusual for the common healers’ playstyle. But after you manage to master his unusual gameplay you’ll get a class with formidable defensive mechanics, solid healing and a vast range of unique useful abilities.
There is no significant difference in how Discipline Priest is played in keys and raids. We recommend you the following talents setup:
- Angelic Feather
- Powel Word: Solace
- Any utility talent you like
- Sins of the Many
- Purge the Wicked or Halo
You should change the last talent to Lenience in Mythic+ keys to increase the tank survivability. You may keep all other talents untouched.
Patch 9.1 significantly boosted the Kyrian for Discipline Priest. The combination of the new Kyrian legendary with Forgelite Prime Mikanikos Soulbind turns your Priest into the powerful instrument of retribution and salvation. Other covenants are far less effective for this class.
The best conduits for Discipline Priest:
- Potency: Courageous Ascension, Shining Radiance, Rabid Shadows
- Finesse: Clear Mind
- Endurance: Condensed Anima Sphere, Translucent Image, Charitable Soul
Shards of Domination
Head for the Chaos Bane as soon as possible, this is similar for all the healers. Place Rev (Blood) and Kyr (Frost) shard in other sockets.
Choose your gear basing on the following priorities:
- Item level, Intellect
Picking up a legendary item
Spheres Harmony is the absolute top among all legendaries both for raid and dungeons. Kyrian legendary provides your Priest with too much to give it up. Clarity of Mind from the previous patch may be suitable for raiding, but you’d better spend some time and get Spheres Harmony. There is a rather high probability of the future nerf, so enjoy this legendary to the full while you still can.
Waiting for this patch was distressing. Players had not seen any progress in Shadowlands for more than 7 months – the real anti-record in World of Warcraft history. The euphoria everyone felt after the release was really short. So what exactly did it bring to us? New zone and two new factions The new Kothia…
In WoW Shadowlands 9.1 players are often mistaken in picking up the wrong Covenant. This ends up realizing that the damage output with a wrong Covenant is approx. 2,5% lower than with proper one. Such a difference in DPS is rather significant and produces a big impact upon your playstyle. To properly choose a Covenant…
